I hold a Lifetime Prescription Rx for the use of Cannabis. I have a permanent partial disability in my neck called acquired deformity of the neck with permanent ligament instability.
When the WA cannabis access laws changed in 2016 – my Rx became null.
I used to grow my own weed. I had an indoor room inside of the back of a greenhouse and it had two sections inside for my girls. One section was lit 24/7 for the vegetation and the other section was a little larger and was the flowering room. I had a system down and I could produce weed non-stop through the seasons. Not only did I grow in the secret stealth room, but I also took advantage of the greenhouse. When the greenhouse temperatures were reaching the extremes – the girls were found scattered in the yard in plain sight in the bushes. We had over an acre of property with over 40 empty acres in the back yard so we were never concerned about aroma spreading.
I enjoyed growing many variety of cannabis and found some easier to cultivate than others. Juicing the cannabis leaves is part of my healthcare routine. I had come up with my own way to cure the flowering cannabis. Half of the girls were cured in the usual customary way. Half of the girls were harvested and then submerged under water for 5-7 days. The waters get changed out every day and then at the end of the time you take the plants out of the water and hang them to dry. In a matter of days your weed will be ready to jar. This water cure was created to allow for full plant extraction without cellulose and chlorophyl. I just found that I did not want to apply green oil onto my body so I found a way to remove the green along with the heavy terpene overflow. In a massage lubrication you want the benefit of the cannabis without the terpenes. (this shocks many in the cannabis community.) You want to feature other aroma like lavender, patchouli or sandalwood. Over time I learned that the trichomes are also matured in the water cure making for more of a body stone.
If you’ve followed this blog long enough you’ll know that I am also licensed to provide massage since 2008. When you are injured, you want to find out how to heal yourself. I wanted to be surrounded by people that knew how to heal themselves and maintain health. So I became licensed to massage so that I could also have access to personal wellness.
In 2013 I melded the two focus together. Massage + Cannabis. Massage oil with cannabis infused into it then massaged into the full body massage. This was bliss. I had several clients who survived cancer and understood the benefits of massage while in remission. They were the first people I had proposed using the massage lubrication on. These people were not using cannabis before the option to have it applied through their skin.
When those clients experienced the same results of relaxation and relief that I found while using cannabis in the massage creme I expanded my search. I didn’t want to have to talk my clients into using cannabis at all. I wanted to find those people who already understood the benefit of cannabis and had doctor permission to use it.
I located the WA Farmers Market and Sonshine Cannabis Medical Collective in 2013. In the former medical cannabis access law, patients were allowed to come together and share their knowledge of how to medicate and what works for them. On a donation basis, patients could share plants, seeds, flowers, concentrates, edibles, oils, topicals, tinctures, cremes, lotions, body oils, bath salts, mouth rinse, dog treats, and merchandise.
That platform was where from 2013-2016 I provided my professional massage to the medical cannabis community with cannabis lube. Massage was already happening there before I showed up, but not legally. I became the professional licensed massage practitioner with a lifetime weed Rx who also understood cannabis and what it could provide to the sick and injured. This was BEFORE labs came onto the scene with their CBD/THC breakdown %.
In 2016 medical cannabis access laws changed with the vote of I502 in WA. Recreational weed was created and cannabis farmers markets were out.
They created something called CHABA in WA. Cannabis Health and Beauty Aids Act. This act allows for CBD and THC to be applied or used within the professional massage with THC amounts no more than 0.3%. CBD can be applied. Cannabis cannot be applied by a professional massage practitioner because the plant is still a scheduled 1 drug.
I purchased a sample of CBD from Tennessee hemp when the laws were changing. IT was an expensive sample. I have no way to know how to break down my little bit of CBD into batches that are worthy of calculating the amount of CBD in each creme. I found a 1oz. sample CBD creme retailed for sale at $45. There is no way that it makes sense to rub that 1oz. sample onto the body and expect it last for the full body session.
I’ve been advertising from 2016-now that I am a CHABA massage practioner. But honestly, I have had 0 interest in it.
I have 0 interest in providing massage at all. If I can’t do it like I did before, there is no going back.
I created an online school to speak with other WA licensed massage practitioners about this subject but I ran into road block after road block.
Right now everything has ended. I don’t grow weed. I don’t have a Rx for weed or do I want one. The DOH Department of Health where I annually renew my professional massage license is the same location where they provide medical cannabis prescription and collect data. I’m out. No data for you – only that I have my LMT massage therapist hat on when I go there.
What I am seeking out is another state with better medical cannabis access laws.
I cannot move forward with what I have done and know is best because of the govt need to collect data. It’s made me bitter and jaded and taken my wellness back in time.
No I am not a CHABA massage practitioner. I removed that from my advertising. I don’t want to. What we need is this marijuana plant to be rescheduled at the federal level and then I can continue my healing work.
I WANT WEED LUBE like I know it. I want to rub it all over your body and then give you some creme to use in between your massage sessions.
The intellectual property I know works will not die with legislation.
HOW was I able to provide services 6 hours in a row, patient after patient – applying the cannabis weed lube to the body – sometimes with EXTRA THC – and NOT BE STONED?
Because weed through the skin is NOT psychoactive.
We need more research. I need weed grown for research and a team to back me up!
Give me a state with better medical cannabis access. #wellnessnotintoxication
